National Night Out is a community crime and drug prevention event sponsored every year through the National Association of Town Watch. This organizations primary goal is to make local communities aware of crime prevention and to strengthen the bond of the community with local law enforcement. By making a strong presence in your community, National Night Out hopes to build neighborhood spirit and support for local anti-crime programs in conjunction with police and local community leaders.
National Association of Town Watch provides the support and organizational kit for each community that participated in this event. It is a proven effective and inexpensive way for local leaders to sponsor a neighborhood spirit event at the grassroots level that can have a positive effect not only for the community but help drive down crime by telling criminals that your community is strong and will not tolerate crime.
Events can range from block parties, cookouts, contest, youth activities, parades, and police and sheriff visits. Hunters Creek is planning an event for August 2, 2011 at the Osprey Park from 6:30 – 8:00 pm. You can expect this event to be filled with plenty of community involvement with the support of local law enforcement. And for the young at heart there will be free ice cream.
